L'etat C'est Moi ("I Am the State"): The Glorious and Influential Reign of Louis XIV, King of France NEW!

Participants will become acquainted with Le Roi Soleil ("The Sun King") and his government at the apogee of absolute monarchy in Europe. We will focus on political, military, economic, social and artistic successes, and the decline in these areas later in his life. Three periods in his 72-year reign will be explored, noting how each affected France, the King's very full love life, and his nation's tempestuous relations with most of its neighbors.
