This course will examine the major geologic events that shaped planet Earth during its 4.6-billion-year history from its earliest beginnings from nebular dust to the formation of the continents, to the present ice age. Woven through this geologic history will be the evolution of life on earth from the theories of where and when life began, to man's arrival 300 thousand years ago and his impact on our planet. No prior geologic education is required but helpful.
