How Frederick the Great Saved America
NEW!
Surprise! The “War that Made America” was not the American Revolution. Two decades before the Boston Tea Party, the future of North America was profoundly shaped by the first real World War, the Seven Years War. Generally called “The French and Indian War” by Americans, this global conflict was triggered by the inadvertent actions of a little-known Virginia militia officer named George Washington. Britain, France, Spain, Russia, and Austria joined the fray, as well as that military powerhouse, Prussia. This course will focus on the intriguing Cast of Characters involved in this world-changing event – heroes, cowards, brilliant strategists, and imbecilic politicians. The cast will include not only George Washington, but British Generals like the unlucky Edward Braddock and the legendary James Wolfe, amazing Empresses like Maria Theresa of Austria and Catherine the Great of Russia, and the man who waged war in Europe in a way that changed the course of American history, Frederick the Great.
