Join us for this wonderful Charlottesville tradition—at Michie Tavern! OLLI at UVA is pleased to continue this partnership. Together, we’ll learn, dine, and socialize in one of our area’s most beautiful historic settings.
The year 2025 marks the 250th anniversary of the Revolutionary War’s commencement. Despite the fact that it was mostly contested elsewhere, Central Virginia and her talented and heroic sons played extremely vital roles. It was a Central Virginian, of course, who penned the Declaration of Independence. Another—while serving as a young lieutenant in the 3rd Virginia Regiment—became a hero of the pivotal Battle of Trenton. Central Virginians, too, guarded a huge enemy force of British and Hessian soldiers that had surrendered in upstate New York. Upon their arrival in Albemarle County, they became Central Virginia’s largest assemblage of humanity.
Join us at Michie Tavern as we explore “Central Virginia in the Revolution.”
