Join us in Staunton for a day at BaroqueFest. The music festival assembles superlative musicians for a sumptuous journey to Italy, including music by Italian masters and those who traveled to and through Italian lands. All concerts feature acclaimed period-instrument performers.

On Sunday, April 12, private lunch, enjoy a deep-dive into Handel's Italian period with an extended lecture over coffee and dessert (1:30 pm) just prior to the finale concert. The 4:00 pm finale at Trinity Episcopal Church presents Handel’s first masterpiece, an oratorio titled “The Triumph of Time and Truth,” written in 1707 in Rome.

Join music historian Jason Stell for an extended lecture on Handel’s Il Trionfo. Written in 1707 when Handel was just 22, the work shimmers with the brilliance of a young composer mastering the oratorio medium. Admission includes coffee, tea, and handmade Italian pastries by Giancarlo.

BaroqueFest 2026 concludes with a complete period-instrument performance of Handel’s first oratorio, Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno (“The Triumph of Time & Truth”), composed in Rome in 1707. Sung in Italian with projected English translation.
