Art Workshop

This monthly workshop invites students to draw an animal along with elements of its environment, while learning how to incorporate mixed-media techniques.

Students will be guided step by step in sketching the animal and its surroundings, starting with basic pencil shapes to build a three-dimensional form. They will then erase unnecessary construction lines. Afterward, they will learn how to use a variety of media to complete their artwork, adding color and line to bring their illustrations to life.

Each month will feature a different animal and environment—or an animal with selected environmental elements—reflecting local natural features and the current season. Students may choose to follow the instructor’s example exactly or personalize their final pieces by adding or removing elements, or experimenting with different colors and materials in a way that feels right to them.

By the end of the workshop, each student will have a completed illustration based on the monthly theme to take home.
