Embark on an exploration of poetry, delving into the works of renowned American, British, and Chinese masters. Traverse continents and centuries, uncovering the unique voices and styles that shaped poetic traditions across the globe. Organization is thematic with each day sampling works that touch on love, sanity, cosmos, war/peace, god and more.
(1) Analyze and compare the formal structures, thematic concerns, and cultural contexts of Eastern and Western poetry.
(2) Develop critical reading skills to dissect poetic language, imagery, and symbolism.
(3) Improve confidence and ability in the art of poetic reading by exploring tone, posture, vocal projection and more.
Various traditional structures and forms such as villanelle, sestina and others will be examined. Knowledge of Mandarin not required as poems will be studied and questioned in translation by Pu tong Hua.

Learn the art of preparing delicious sourdough bread in this hands-on workshop. Baking bread is both science and craft and you'll learn the secrets to creating delicious and crusty loaves.
This workshop will cover creating and nurturing a sourdough starter, tools and equipment, ingredients, preparation, preparing for baking and troubleshooting. We will sample a variety of fresh sourdough loaves to talk about variations in taste and texture.
During the workshop, we will mix, prep, and shape dough to take and bake at home the following day.
Your class fee includes a glass jar with sourdough starter, a proofing basket to use and keep, plus written instructions and recipes.
At home, you will need a Dutch oven or roasting pan with lid that can be safely heated to 450 degrees.
For Class: Please bring the following supplies to class: 1) a large mixing bowl 2) a kitchen towel 3) an apron (optional). We will have spatulas, scales, measuring cups, etc. for class use.

The goal is to balance all parts of the garden ecosystem to promote biodiversity, preserve soil, and conserve water.
Whether you have a small garden, a large yard, or a community space, this class will provide you with a solid starting point for making any green space more productive, resilient, and environmentally friendly.
No prior experience is required. Anyone with an interest in gardening is welcome.
