Our six-hour Saturday welding workshop is great for rising 10th-12th grade students ready to explore the basics of MIG welding. From the start, you’ll learn how to safely set up your machine, properly use essential PPE (provided if you don’t have your own) and operate a wire-feed welding gun with confidence. The bulk of the class is hands-on: you’ll practice fundamental welding techniques, learn to troubleshoot common issues, and create a project that you’ll proudly take home at the end of the day. We’ll also walk through the basics of selecting your own welding equipment so you leave not just with a finished project but also the knowledge and confidence to continue welding at home. Students will need to wear close-toed shoes and cotton or denim pants, have hair secured back, and be free of jewelry or any loose/hanging items to ensure safety. Lunch is provided. This workshop is funded through a grant from the Arconic Foundation. Please do not register for more than one session of this workshop. The workshop will take place at Pellissippi State's Blount County Campus. Register online or contact the Blount County Campus at (865) 981-5300 with questions.
