This is an encore field trip, first conducted in Fall 2025. Your tour guides will be Hal Hatfield, retired geologist and Park volunteer and Mary Beth Barr, Jerome Historical Society President. Topics will include geologic history; major town and mining events; the mine owners; the ghost town years; and what makes Jerome tick today. The tour will be primarily outdoors, so please dress accordingly. A $10 fee or a valid annual State Park Pass will be required for entrance to the State Park.

Meet and greet the boys (donkeys) Georgie and Billy Bob Beer Belly. Connecting with the boys is all about brushing, petting walking and talking with them. No riding is done with this fun visit, just Fun and Hugs! Teri will also share information about her donkeys and the history of donkeys. At the end you will have a chance to feed treats (peanuts) and take Frameable Pictures for lasting memories! Donation of $20 requested for the food and care of the boys! Payable to the facilitator.

Beginning Zentangle classes introduce the structured, eight-step method to create meditative art on 3.5-inch paper tiles using, primarily, five elemental strokes: dots, straight lines, C-curves, S-curves, and orbs. Beginners focus on learning basic patterns, called tangles: like Crescent Moon, Hollibaugh, and Flux, focusing on process over outcome. All supplies are provided for class and will be available for purchase from the facilitator if you want to use them at home.

In this class, participants will apply dye colors to their own gourd bowl, then lash on a pine needle rim and embellishments. (Gourd will be cleaned and prepped for you.) No artistic background or previous experience is needed! Some manual dexterity and attention to detail is needed. You will take your completed bowl with you. $15 fee payable to the facilitator.

Two 90-minute sessions. The first will cover the structure and function of the human microbiome, with emphasis on its interaction with the immune system (e.g., autoimmune disorders), while the second session will focus on probiotics and other strategies for maintaining gut health.

Come join in the Excitement! Even if you have never line danced before, you will quickly learn the easy steps and be a part of this exercise class. Learn the basic steps and have fun, as you dance in unison to some classic country western music. Bring your boots and country attire (not required). Yee Haw!!

English Country Dance (ECD, for short) is dancing like you’ve seen in Jane Austen movies. It’s fun, not too strenuous, and doesn’t require dance experience. You will learn figures like back-to-back, two-hand turn, set and turn single, and others. With a combination of the few figures learned, you can dance many dances— some are elegant and some comical, some are historical and some quite recent. You will enjoy moving to music in this “on your feet” and social class. No partner is required.

This class is the next installment and follow-on to the PIXAR FEATURE FILMS class from last year. This class is for Beginners to the Apple iPhone model 12 and newer and those who want to learn more about the basics of primary applications and how to use them. Your iPhone should be at iOS Release 26 for this class. We will cover dozens of the phone’s settings, including security settings and apps like iPhone, camera, messaging/texting, email, calendar, maps, notes, iCloud, web access, Siri, passwords and Find My, as well as adding, moving, and deleting apps.

The iPhone Health App and Apple Watch have been helping people monitor and improve their health for a decade. This class will explore the watch sensors and their measurements, how to set up and understand the information they provide, and how to get more from them. You must have an Apple Watch Series 6 or later, and an iPhone XR or later. I will be teaching this course based on the Apple WatchOS 26 and iPhone iOS 26. I highly recommend you upgrade to these versions of software.

We all have to face the end of life and the many decisions that come with that final act. How do I want the medical professionals to treat me? How do I decide who will represent my wishes and ensure they are carried out? What type of funeral? Organ donation or not? What do I say to friends, family, my doctor and when? Being aware and as prepared as possible might help address concerns and fears. This class will discuss these matters in simple laymen terms with that as the end goal.

Your body is teaming with millions of microorganisms known as your microbiome, found primarily in your gut. We'll examine these microorganisms' impact on our health and from probiotic-fermented foods. Learn how fermenting organisms modulate our immune systems and well-being and the importance of probiotics. You'll get a tour of fermentation plus demonstrations on how to make some tasty fermented treats. Note: $35 per participant materials fee, paid to facilitator at the first class meeting.

As we age, our body’s physiology changes. We can keep our bodies strong and deter many health problems associated with aging. We've heard how important it is to exercise, eat well, and get adequate amounts of sleep. In this class, the WHY's will be explained as to how these factors affects our aging bodies, right down to the cellular level. Also, what type of exercises are beneficial as we age and anti-inflammatory food sources.

For those feeling like it is time for a "Health Remodel" this class is for you. Learn lifestyle habits that will improve your mental and physical health, enabling you to enjoy the independence and freedom of aging in place at home, experiencing life to the fullest. Topics include; Creating a blueprint for success, strengthening mental health, stress management, safe movement, nutrition as fuel, restorative sleep and more.

Communication is hard for those who can hear. It is exponentially harder for those who have hearing loss. Discussions will center around ideas for better communication methods. Specific examples for study. Class participation is encouraged. Bring your experiences, thoughts and curiosity to the table for exploration. Learn about how to live with hearing loss successfully for you, family and friends.

By presenting relevant concepts and data, this on-going course aims to equip each participant to be an educated consumer of news on a wide range of economic topics. Discussions will be fact-driven and nontechnical; no formal economics training is required.

This learning group continues our discussions about foreign affairs, major geopolitical events, and international issues. The facilitator and distinguished guest speakers (DGS) may use brief presentations to generate interactive discussions and civil conversations. We review recent headlines, lesser-reported events, and updates on previous headlines.

With the astronauts in space, we earthlings faced many tough challenges. A Space Race, the Cuban Missile Crises and the V-Nam war among them, a veteran will highlight and discuss topics from a long list (Oct. 1957 - Apr. 1975). We will conclude with the tragedy that marked the war’s end. Included is a status update on America’s current strategic nuclear weapons posture.

Part 2 of The American West. This is a DVD course by Professor Patrick N. Allitt. Explore Western History and how they became the stuff of myths, movies, and political speeches. Explore the expansion of the original 13 colonies beyond the Appalachian Mountains, the discoveries of Lewis & Clark and other explores, the struggles of the native Indian people, the Mexican War, and subsequent acquisition of the American Southwest from Mexico, and the role of the West in the American Civil War.

We will continue to explore The Constitution in Motion using clips from Sagal's travels across the USA with intermittent information and respectful discussion in a small group.

Participants are invited to give short (10–20 min) presentations on a key issue shaping American democracy—covering such aspects as governing principles, current challenges and global comparisons. Each presentation will be followed by open discussion aimed at fostering civic awareness, critical thinking, careful listening and respectful dialogue. Together we will deepen understanding of community values and engage in meaningful conversation about America’s changing role in a changing world.

Please join us for this participatory class. Members nominate class subjects, and vote on the topics for each week. Recent subjects include socialism, the federal government checks and balances, climate change, the Supreme Court, SETI (Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence), deficits and inflation, and water resources.

In this class, we will discuss The War to End All Wars and its effects on not only the world but also the strategies and technological evolution. First, we will cover the strategies employed in previous wars. Next, we will move into the evolution of trench warfare and the tactics employed to break through the lines of stagnant warfare. Furthermore, we will discuss the adoption of new tactics such as specialized units, tanks, artillery, chemical weapons, and the growing idea of air superiority.
