The Small Business Startup: Essentials with Digital Marketing microcredential prepares learners to launch and manage a small business through foundational training in management, accounting, budgeting, and digital marketing. Participants learn how to create a business plan, manage daily operations, and build an online presence to reach customers and grow their business.
Criteria: Learners must complete all three courses below with a "C" or better to earn the Small Business Startup: Essentials with Digital Marketing microcredential.

MGMT 2703 Small Business Management (3 Hours) This course will include setting up simple accounting procedures, managing a small retail establishment or running a small manufacturing plant, basic principles of personnel, merchandising, and promotion, with possibly a small amount of quantitative analysis.

ACCT 1123 College Accounting Procedures (3 Hours) This course includes what learners need to know regarding sole proprietorship and corporation accounting procedures for both service and merchandising concerns, including the fundamental procedures for double-entry accounting, the accounting cycle, preparation of financial statements, accrual versus cash basis accounting, depreciation, and inventory cost flows.

MKTG 2113 Digital Marketing Essentials This course will introduce students to the key concepts of on- and off-site SEO (Search Engine Optimization), paid search marketing, online advertising, web analytics, and e-mail marketing. Additionally, content includes social media marketing, web design, and online reputation management.
