Class Overview
Chi Kung (also spelled “qigong”) is an ancient health-giving exercise that began in the stone age in China. Combining breathing and movement, it acts like an internal massage for the organs of the body while strengthening the limbs and the spine. "Chi" is translated as breath, and "kung" means exercise.
In this class, learn the 18 movements of Chi Kung and the Swimming Dragon exercise. These are beautiful movements that feel good in the body. This practice can offer many benefits such as focus, balance, relaxation, strengthening, stretching, mindfulness, and overall well-being. The history of Chi Kung includes Chinese medicine, Taoism, martial arts, Confucianism, and Buddhism. All will be discussed to provide a greater understanding and appreciation of this practice.
This gentle exercise is geared to seniors, and anyone who wants to support good health. People who wish to extend the length and quality of their functional life will benefit.

Research shows that everyone who has successfully defended themselves during an attack had a few things in common. First, they recognized the threatening situation quickly. Then, they clearly defended their boundaries, and used physical means when it was necessary.
During this comprehensive self-defense course, learn to recognize potentially unsafe situations and protect yourself with confidence. Discover the ploys and manipulation commonly used by attackers or people who seek to harm you. Learn and practice releases from common grabs. Explore how you can use your body language and voice to deter attacks.
This class will teach you how to assess risks in order to defuse, deescalate or evade potential conflicts before a physical assault ever happens. This is a progressive skill-building course. Come prepared to challenge yourself and enjoy the self confidence you will gain!

Participants will gain a basic understanding of personal safety and self-defense in order to:

- demonstrate physical skills to disable an attacker and escape, if necessary
