Class Overview
Gain the knowledge and skills needed to do some basic home repair and maintenance projects. You'll feel good learning how to do home projects yourself and you will probably save money as well! Learn about tool selection, operation and personal safety. Explore various projects, materials and methods. Projects that we will focus on include kitchen and bath remodels, electrical, plumbing, wall repair, home security and weatherization and remodeling. Perform your own home repairs with confidence! This class requires a minimum age of 18.

Class Overview
Explore the creative, rewarding, fun art of block printing! This class will teach you how to use linocut to create prints.
Learn the basic skills and techniques of wood block carving and experience the rewarding feeling you get by peeling off a piece of paper printed with your original art! Make multiple copies for greeting cards, gifts, fabric, and decor. Block printing is an ancient art with roots in many cultures that can provide inspiration. Block prints have a unique and artistic look. If you are not good at designing or drawing? Don’t worry! We have several design options for you.
Use your creativity and curiosity with carving and printing your own one-of-a-kind art! This class is for everybody, from complete beginners, to experienced carvers and artists.
Supplies Needed
- Personal safety equipment (thumb guard and/or resistant gloves)
- One clear acrylic sheet plexiglass 8" x 12" (Recommended: YSTIME 8" x 12" Clear Acrylic Sheet Plexiglass Plastic Sheet for Crafts Transparent Acrylic Board with Protective Paper for Craft, Windows, Frame, DIY Display Projects)

Overview
Demand for workers with residential building skills in the Seattle area is enormous, and jobs can be rewarding and well-paying. This new certificate program provides hands-on career training in “whole building” residential construction.
Designed to put your skills to work in the field, this program is open for people with no experience, as well as anyone currently working in construction who would like to take their career to the next level.
Learn foundational construction skills, gain experience with tools and materials, develop carpentry skills, and build interior and exterior finishing skills. Lecture, discussion, and written materials will prepare you to take the Carpentry Basic Certification exam.
Gain the knowledge and experience for gainful employment and advancement in residential construction.

Whittling is a simple and fun hobby that many people all over the world enjoy. In this interactive class, learn how to use the tools, select wood for your project, make the basic cuts and use proper whittling techniques. Enjoy whittling small animals that you will treasure for years and they also make wonderful gifts. In this class we we also learn how to sharpen and hone your tools to keep them razor sharp. Discover a new interest through this fun, hands on, engaging class! No previous whittling experience required.

Class Overview
Create a beautiful wooden spoon in one sitting! In this workshop, learn the basics of carving a simple kitchen spoon. You will also acquire basic knowledge and techniques of wood carving such as wood selection, preparing blanks, basic carving techniques, and traditional oil finishing.
These skills will help you become prepared for future wood carving projects. Stir up your creativity and curiosity with carving your own one of a kind wooden spoon! No previous wood carving experience required.

- Sweep gouge No. 7 or any carving straight or bent gouge No. 7, between 10–12 mm width with a short or long handle (recommended: PFEIL Swiss Made 10 mm Gouge No 7)

Class Overview
Learn all about the basics of woodworking in this rewarding hands-on class!
You will learn how to use the main hand tools and power tools in the shop, as well as the important safety rules when using the equipment. Then you will practice on the equipment and make a three-legged stool while being guided at each step of designing, building and finishing your project.
Discover joinery techniques, the importance of sharp tools, when to use different kinds of fasteners and adhesives, and basic methods of wood finishing.
The goal of the class is for students to gain confidence on the equipment so that they can work independently in the shop. This class is a prerequisite for Woodworking II. This class requires a minimum age of 18.
In this class, you will learn:
- shop safety, including personal protection in the wood shop
- the properties of wood and how that informs the selection and milling of lumber
- how to properly use hand tools (hand saw, block plane, chisel and hammer) and power tools (hand drill, router, drill press jointer, planer, and table, miter and band saws).
- We'll also focus on joinery techniques, the importance of sharp tools, when to use different kinds of fasteners and adhesives, and basic methods of wood finishing.
Week 1: Please bring a notebook and pencil to first class.
Weeks 2-10: Students will be required to bring their own Personal Protection Equipment (safety glasses, hearing protection) for all remaining classes.
