    This is an encore field trip, first conducted in Fall 2025. Your tour guides will be Hal Hatfield, retired geologist and Park volunteer and Mary Beth Barr, Jerome Historical Society President. Topics will include geologic history; major town and mining events; the mine owners; the ghost town years; and what makes Jerome tick today. The tour will be primarily outdoors, so please dress accordingly. A $10 fee or a valid annual State Park Pass will be required for entrance to the State Park.

No riding is done with this fun visit, just Fun and Hugs! Teri will also share information about her donkeys and the history of donkeys. At the end you will have a chance to feed treats (peanuts) and take Frameable Pictures for lasting memories! Donation of $20 requested for the food and care of the boys! Payable to the facilitator.

    On Tues at 10AM Michael Byrd, Director for Prescott Creeks, will share the Creek's natural history and its pivotal role in the town's history. Thurs at 8AM, we walk the shaded Granite Creek path, a hidden treasure and cool respite for native wildlife and weary travelers inside Prescott. Our 0.6-mile route follows the Downtown Greenway Trail along the creek ... natural surfaces including stairs. Meet at Granite Creek and Carleton. $15 cash donation payable during the tour in addition to the OLLI fee.


    Please note this meets Tuesday and Thursday of same week.

    The PCT is a roughly 56 mile trail around Prescott, divided into 11 segments. This session we will hike segments 1-6 which range in length from 5-9 miles and can contain a lot of elevation change. These are the prettiest and most challenging segments of the PCT and are not beginning or easy hikes. Hikes range from 2-4 hours and breaks will be taken as needed. Speeds average 2.5mph. So, I hope you will join us in this great adventure.

    This class is a series of nature walks to understand and appreciate the wide variety of natural environments in the Prescott area. This is NOT a hiking group. Walks will be short and casually paced, with frequent stops to learn about what we see. Each week we will explore a different environment: Ponderosa Pine forest; Pinyon-Juniper forest; desert shrubland; riparian areas and lakes; and we'll learn about the flora, fauna, and natural processes of each environment. Meet at OLLI to carpool.

    Join us on moderate hikes of up to 5 miles on rocky and sometimes steep terrain and experience the beauty and diversity of some of the many trails in our area. You will need to be in good physical condition and accustomed to hiking at higher elevations and temperatures. Wear a hat and sunscreen and bring plenty of water and hiking poles. For comfort and enjoyment, wear comfortable boots and dress in layers appropriate for the weather.
