IN-PERSON: Climate Change: Meeting the Moment

Join us for an in person "introduction to OLLI" featuring a 45-minute lecture followed by 45 minutes of mingling. Light hors d'oeuvres and refreshments will be served.

Most people don't realize that the role of atmospheric carbon dioxide in warming the planet was first explained by Irish physicist John Tyndall in 1859. Dr. Andrew Gunther will review the history, physical principles, and observations that have led every national science academy and professional scientific society to conclude that human emissions of greenhouse gasses are altering the climate. He will discuss the expected significant climate changes, what they mean for the Bay Area, and the basic solution for the crisis.
