Writing: The Well Made Story
Lynne Kaufman Houses are built from blueprints. Stories are built from outlines. Unlike many aspects of writing, structure can be taught and this writing workshop will teach that craft. Come with an idea for a story you want to develop and share. You will learn how to dramatize your story, how to choose the compelling detail, to build suspense and pursue a story question. You will learn to shape the personal so it becomes universal and by the end of the workshop you will have written a complete short story. This workshop is for writers on all levels who wish to improve their storytelling skills. Lynne Kaufman is a nationally recognized, award-winning playwright, novelist and short story writer. Her plays have been produced in New York, San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Washington D.C. She has published three novels and dozens of short stories. She is currently Director of Special Events for the Joseph Campbell Foundation. (For maximum effectiveness and enjoyment, writing courses are preferred to be kept smaller...between 7 and 15 students. Our regular course price is based upon enrollment of 15 or more. As a result, the cost of this class is higher. Multi-course memberships are based upon 12 hour courses at $95. Therefore, if you are a multi-course member, $95 will be deducted from the course fee, leaving $30.)
