**This class will be taught on Zoom**
This class explores the radical and prescient play WASTE by Harley-Granville Barker, a 1907 drama about abortion, the law and political hypocrisy that was banned when it premiered. As the director of a new production of WASTE at Marin Theater in February, I will share insights into the fascinating conflicts and characters in this landmark play by George Bernard Shaw’s protégé. At the current moment, when the subject of abortion has roiled our political landscape, WASTE provides a complex and surprising look at who gets to choose and what the consequences are.
