The Fine Art of Spiritual Journaling

The Fine Art of Spiritual Journaling Journaling is a kind of personal writing which can range from a daily accounting to something deeper, an examination of motives, thoughts, passions, and memories. The oldest journals were written by religious contemplatives, such as the Confessions of Saint Augustine and the spiritual journals of Puritans. For many modern people, the word spiritual has no simple definition but it often touches on the non-material, transcendent or supernatural world, and emphasizes intuition and sensing rather than intellectual analysis. In this 5-week writing course, we will look at various approaches to keeping a journal and the powerful benefits of doing so, with time to discuss individual projects and share student writing.
