Plastic Man: The Artful life of Jerry Ross Barrish – Art, Politics & Dyslexia

Meet the artist and the makers from PLASTIC MAN: the artful life of Jerry Ross Barrish. A fifth generation San Franciscan, Barrish was the product of an environment with little appreciation for the arts. His hardworking parents were boxing enthusiasts vaguely connected to the mob. It was these connections that got him started in the bail bonds business. Then he broke the mold, stepping-up to become the bailout guy for 1960’s protestors. Inspired by the times, he changed course in mid-life launching himself as a sculptor and filmmaker. Film director, William Farley, producer Janis Plotkin will join Barrish in a post-screening conversation moderated by Michael Fox. *Please note that a separate link of the film will be provided. We encourage students to view the film in advance of the discussion session.
