Women Behind the Camera: Historic & Recent Films by Women

**This course will be taught via Zoom. We send Zoom links one week before the first class and one day before the first class. We also watch for late registrants to make sure you get the link.**

Is there a difference in films produced, directed and/or shot by women? Women have been sitting in the Director’s Chair since early silent films and have made films in every decade since the 1890’s but in the last 5 years, their numbers and their influence has become a true force to be reckoned with. The recent Golden Globe nominations for director included three women out of five spots. In this course, we will view films directed, produced but also photographed by women in several countries. It is indeed a very special time for the strength of women behind the camera to be examined and celebrated.
