This is the application for Skagit Valley College’s Marine Surveying course. Once accepted, students will receive notification on a rolling basis.

Program Duration: 16 Weeks of Instruction + 60-Day Independent Survey Period
Program Start: January 19, 2027
Weeks 1–6: Online Instruction | January 19–February 26, 2027
Monday–Thursday, 5:30–8:30 p.m. (12 hours per week)
Build a foundation in marine surveying through evening classes covering professional practices, client agreements and liability, report writing, condition statements, vessel valuation, construction materials, and ABYC Standards.
Weeks 7–10: In-Person Training in Anacortes | March 1–26, 2027
Monday–Friday, full days at the Marine Technology Center
Gain hands-on experience through laboratory work, guest presentations from experienced surveyors, and three instructor-led vessel inspections. Training includes fiberglass hull and deck inspection, percussion sounding, moisture metering, mechanical and electrical systems, and a sea trial.
Weeks 11–16: Online Instruction | March 29–May 7, 2027
Continue online with report writing and critique, ABYC Marine Systems and Marine Electrical certifications, comprehensive review, and the final examination.
Independent Survey Period: 60 Days
After the instructional portion of the program, complete four independent surveys and submit them for instructor review and feedback.

Marine Survey Course Refund Policy: A student will receive a 100% refund if the college cancels the class. A student will receive 75% refund if the student officially withdraws 5 weeks prior to the first-class meeting. No refund will be given thereafter and application fees will not be refunded.
