Special Needs Parenting: Life after High School

Seventy percent of adults with an intellectual or developmental disability (I/DD) such as autism, Down syndrome, or cerebral palsy, live at home with their parents or other family care givers. Although there are many programs in Spokane to help these individuals grow economically, socially and personally, parents and family care givers often find accessing them challenging. "Life After High School" is a six-part series designed to help parents navigate the sometimes complex support system for people with I/DD and create a richer life for their son or daughter. Topics include: Envisioning the Future & the Transition IEP, Navigating the System, Employment, Financial Planning and Guardianship, Housing, Social Growth, Recreation & Transportation.
