Basic CPR, AED, and First Aid for Adults

Course Description: BasicPlus adult first aid, CPR, and use of AED. Those who successfully complete this training will earn a nationally recognized certificate as someone who is able to use an external automated defibrillator, someone who can perform cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, and respond as a first aid responder. *ETP Eligible

Hobby Welding

A 20 hour class to shape new, used, or recycled metal into hobby projects/yard art by using basic welding techniques. This class is for beginners/crafters, farmers, “retired and starting-a-part-time-out-of-the-garage” or even a “brush up class” opportunity for the established welders. Providing you some time and ability to have fun and make something cool using basic techniques! Students will design and provide materials for these projects. Students must furnish some supplies, clothing and safety equipment.

** Takes place at Spokane Colleges' Colville Campus (985 S Elm St, Colville, WA 99114)

Note: On the first night, the instructor will guide you through a crucial safety orientation and provide a list of materials you'll need and proper attire (long sleeves, pants covering ankles, closed toe shoes). Canva is an online design platform that allows users to create graphics, edit photos, create printable materials, and publish their work. Enroll in this course to explore Canva's powerful design tools! Anyone can do this; no graphic design background is needed. Through reading, tutorials, and interactive activities you will start small and build your Canva confidence. Modules are short and allow you to work at your own pace. You will become familiar with Canva's basic layout and interface, design principles, and learn how to apply these to design your own projects. A certificate of completion is earned upon finishing the course. Introduction To Homeschooling

Spokane Colleges supports parents who may choose home-based instruction for their children by offering a homeschool introductory course that fulfills one of the four ways to qualify in Washington: completing a qualifying course in home-based education at a postsecondary institution or a vocational-technical institute (RCW 28A.225.010 (4)(a-c). Our parent-qualifying course is designed to be an affordable, convenient, online, self-paced course taught by a homeschool parent who encourages parents just starting their journey. It will build your confidence and arm you with strategies to acquire resources for community connection, learning, assessment, and record-keeping. The course typically takes 3 to 4 hours to complete. A certificate is awarded upon completion.

The SFCC Jazz Ensemble is a full big band including trumpets, trombones, saxophones, and rhythm section (piano, bass, guitar, vibes, drums). Music performed will include traditional big band swing literature, contemporary works, Latin style pieces, and original compositions. Jazz ensemble experience preferred.

Meditation for Health, Happiness, Peace and Prosperity

Ancient contemplative know-your-self methods, confirmed by modern brain science, are practiced and discussed to prompt and promote our full human heart/mind potential. This class is intended for everyone interested in the benefits of meditation, beginners and non-beginners, alike. Learning, sharing and practicing together will naturally foster appreciation and understanding of ourselves and others, so we can make better moves in everything we do. Speed Spanish

With the Speed Spanish course, you will immediately start creating sentences and conversations in Spanish. Each lesson will introduce new techniques to increase your fluency quickly and allow you to start speaking Spanish right away. You will also have the opportunity to discuss Spanish culture and differences in Spanish-speaking countries. Be prepared to travel to a Spanish-speaking country and communicate effectively, and build in-demand skills that can increase your career opportunities. Self-paced.

Step & Sculpt

Spokane Falls Community Colleges' Step & Sculpt combines aerobic fitness and body conditioning in the same class session. Everyone is welcome to join in the fun! Participants will engage in aerobic routines set to music, using a step platform. Cardio movements may also be performed as a low-impact floor routine without the step. Students will use handheld weights, exertubes, fit-balls, weighted bars, and mats to participate in resistance training exercise activities. Equipment used in class will be provided, however, students may bring their own mat/yoga mat if they wish. Warm-up, cool down, and stretching will also be included during class time.

Personal Safety

Are you nervous about walking alone or downtown? Is your fear of aggression standing in the way of your ability to live? Take this course as a step toward reclaiming your freedom. People of all ages and physical conditions can benefit immediately from simple, easy to remember techniques. Prepare yourself mentally and physically to walk with confidence and have fun learning in a supportive and inclusive community! Each week will feature light physical activity, competency using one new anti-aggression technique, and repetitive review of previous week's techniques to develop automatic and effective reactions. Leave this class with an increased sense of personal safety and security.

Violence Prevention and Awareness Certificate

This certificate program examines workplace violence, domestic (intimate partner) violence, elder abuse, child abuse, pediatric abusive head trauma, and sexual assault, gender violence, and rape. The outcome of this certificate program is for the learner to describe several key types of violence, risk factors specific to those types of violence, assessment and treatment options, and prevention measures to reduce the incidence of violence. Self-paced.
