Agriculture Husbandry - Livestock on a Small Scale

This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of small-scale animal husbandry, with a focus on sustainable livestock management. Designed for aspiring homesteaders, hobby farmers, and anyone interested in raising animals for personal use or local markets, the course covers the care, feeding, breeding, and health of common livestock species including chickens, goats, sheep, pigs, and cattle. Students who complete the course will be awarded with a Livestock care certificate.

Electronics Career Camp

Join us for a comprehensive dive into the world of electronics and chips. We are not talking potato chips either, (although snacks will be provided) we mean computer chips. Students will get an inside look at what it takes to build computer chips and learn all about electronics. Camp includes tour(s) to local businesses, time with faculty to hear about all things electronics and hands on projects to take home at the end of camp.

Ages 5th through 9th grade. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Wilderness Career Camp

Welcome to the wilderness! This career camp features SFCC paleontologist Jacquelyn Belock. Campers will start at SCC to learn about the ecological environment we call Spokane before adventuring to Turnbull National Wildlife Refuge to learn about local plants and animals and get a glance at forest management. They will also have the opportunity to look at local geological structures and hunt for fossils at Bowl and Pitcher.

Ages 5th through 9th grade. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Tour group comprised of middle school aged youth and some teachers of a manufacturing facility.

Large-scale creations in a short amount of time! This career camp features hands-on experiences with local industry professionals and educators, including businesses like Sondren Packaging. Campers will explore the fundamentals of modern manufacturing—learning how everyday products are designed, engineered, and built. They’ll also tour local manufacturing facilities to see real-world production in action.

Public Works Camp

Kids 6-9 grade always by river

There are plenty of fish in the hatchery, but only one Public Works Camp! Join us for a behind-the-scenes adventure into the incredible infrastructure that keeps Spokane running. Campers will get an exclusive look at how a city operates through engaging field trips and hands-on activities. From the Spokane Fish Hatchery to the Spokane Dam, students will explore how natural resources are managed and how water and energy systems support our daily lives. Campers will also dive into the world of public buildings, transportation networks, and utility systems—learning how roads are maintained, how clean water gets to our homes, and how waste is managed responsibly. 

Ages 5th through 9th grade. Lunch and snacks will be provided.

Introduction To Homeschooling

Spokane Colleges supports parents who may choose home-based instruction for their children by offering a homeschool introductory course that fulfills one of the four ways to qualify in Washington: completing a qualifying course in home-based education at a postsecondary institution or a vocational-technical institute (RCW 28A.225.010 (4)(a-c). Our parent-qualifying course is designed to be an affordable, convenient, online, self-paced course taught by a homeschool parent who encourages parents just starting their journey. It will build your confidence and arm you with strategies to acquire resources for community connection, learning, assessment, and record-keeping. The course typically takes 5 to 9 hours to complete. A certificate is awarded upon completion.

Violence Prevention and Awareness Certificate

This certificate program examines workplace violence, domestic (intimate partner) violence, elder abuse, child abuse, pediatric abusive head trauma, and sexual assault, gender violence, and rape. The outcome of this certificate program is for the learner to describe several key types of violence, risk factors specific to those types of violence, assessment and treatment options, and prevention measures to reduce the incidence of violence. Self-paced.
