Course Description: Mental Health First Aid is training that teaches skills to help someone who is working with a person who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Information provided will discuss symptoms, crisis response, and active listening skills to support many mental health disorders, including: Depression; Anxiety, Trauma; Psychosis; and Substance Abuse. In-person class located on SFCC Campus.

Course Description: Examine how Optimal Healing Environments impact the health of individuals and communities on a physical, social, psychological, and spiritual level. This course will give you the skills to recommend methods for enhancing the personal care and work environments around you to support health and well-being.The outcome of this certificate is for the learner to describe the various elements of optimal healing environments and how they impact the health of individuals and communities on a physical, social, psychological, and spiritual level; and describe methods of enhancing personal and work environments so they support the health of individuals and surrounding communities in a sustainable, healing manner.

Course Description: As the population in the United States ages, there are many opportunities to learn how to work with seniors in multiple settings in a way that supports quality of life. In the Certificate in Healthy Aging, you'll gain an overview of specific aspects of aging to provide a long-term foundation for treatment of the senior community and overall health during the later years of life. This certificate is designed for anyone working in the health care field, those who are interested in the topic, those who are working with the aging population, or anyone who wishes to prepare for a career in aging services or gerontology.

Time Spent to Complete Course: 12 hours

Course Description: Take charge of your own health and healing by discovering how to achieve total health of the mind, body, and spirit. This course allows you to explore a variety of methods including diet, hydrotherapy, positive attitude, relaxation, yoga, chiropractic, natural remedies and more to achieve total health.

Time Spent to Complete Course: 24 hours

Ancient contemplative know-your-self methods, confirmed by modern brain science, are practiced and discussed to prompt and promote our full human heart/mind potential.

What is learned and discussed:

1) how to calm and tame the mind

2) how to increase awareness and compassion

3) how to find and understand the causes and cures of human suffering

4) how to help ourselves and others in troubled times, such as these.

This class is intended for everyone interested in the benefits of meditation, beginners and non-beginners, alike. Learning, sharing and practicing together will naturally foster appreciation and understanding of ourselves and others, so we can make better moves in everything we do. This is the aspiration.
