You’ll learn strategies grounded in adult learning theory, including facilitation methods, learner-centered instruction, and effective assessment. Adult Education is required to teach Home Care Aide, Population-Specific, and Specialty courses (Mental Health, Dementia, TBI, DD). Course Description: Obtain your HCA in 75 hours of on-ground training. Training will provide DSHS certifications in dementia care and mental health care. This training is the minimum requirement for employment with home care agencies, assisted living facilities, adult family home caregivers and owners, individual state contracted personal care workers, group homes, and any other direct care workers providing home or community-based services to the elderly or people with functional or developmental disabilities. *ETP Eligible

Brush up on your HCA/NAC skills prior to taking your state skills test, or get updated skills for a job. This 4 hour class will enable students to practice their care-giving skills in our lab under the supervision of a trained professional in the industry.

In-person in Magnuson building (#27) located on SFCC campus. 

This 1-day course is for providers in long term care settings. Learners will obtain an introduction to mental disorders and gain basic communication skills. DSHS approved certificate upon successfully passing exam with an 80% or better. *ETP Eligible
