This is a 4-hour, instructor-led online course tailored for those interested in teaching DSHS-approved Long-Term Care courses. You’ll learn strategies grounded in adult learning theory, including facilitation methods, learner-centered instruction, and effective assessment. Adult Education is required to teach Home Care Aide, Population-Specific, and Specialty courses (Mental Health, Dementia, TBI, DD). Become a qualified instructor right in your own facility and take control of your training program.

Required English Proficiency Testing: All students are required to complete a 25 question, multiple choice, English proficiency exam. Course Description: Obtain your HCA in 75 hours of on-ground training. Training will provide DSHS certifications in dementia care and mental health care. This training is the minimum requirement for employment with home care agencies, assisted living facilities, adult family home caregivers and owners, individual state contracted personal care workers, group homes, and any other direct care workers providing home or community-based services to the elderly or people with functional or developmental disabilities. *ETP Eligible
