Veterinary Assistant Program

This online veterinary assistant course will prepare you to become a productive member of a veterinary team by helping you learn the fundamental skills needed for a successful career. You will learn every aspect of veterinary assisting, including anatomy and physiology, animal restraint, laboratory procedures, emergency care, small and large animal assisting, exotic species, veterinary dentistry, human-animal bond, pharmacy procedures, and more. You will also learn how to interact professionally with clients and gain the expertise you need to educate them about key topics in pet care, such as nutrition, vaccinations, and administering medication. Self-paced. *ETP Eligible Disclaimer: To qualify for the externship applications process, students must successfully complete the online course content. Veterinary Assistant with Horse Care Management

Together, these courses provide the comprehensive training needed to be a veterinary assistant with an additional focus on horse care techniques. Whether you're interested in joining a stable, equestrian center, or veterinary facility that works with large animals, having a fundamental knowledge of horse caretaking and veterinary science is essential. The Veterinary Assistant with Horse Care Management sequence provides a broad overview of horse care topics while teaching the technical skills needed to work as a veterinary assistant.

This self-paced course uses an anatomical approach to teach you the medical word components used in veterinary medicine. You will learn medical terms unique to the anatomy, physiology, pathology and treatment of animals. You will master veterinary medical terminology through a simplified learning process that builds on commonly used word parts. Each course lesson is designed to build on this foundation, with the material and illustrations focusing on the new word parts and definitions needed for success in the veterinary field.

The Veterinary Office Manager course will teach you the essential skills to manage the business aspects of a veterinary practice while also helping you prepare for a job as a veterinary office manager. You will learn key skills in Microsoft Office that are useful in any profession, whether you are in an entry-level position or an experienced professional. Along with training for the office management side of a veterinary office manager job, this course also includes basic veterinary assistant training.
