K.S. Brooks, a professional photographer and photojournalist, will introduce students to the basics of photography that are needed to successfully achieve aesthetically pleasing and technically correct photographs. The seven-part class will cover camera handling, composition, effective use of light, night photography, and more. Students should have a camera other than a cell phone, although basic photography techniques apply just the same. Cell phone users, however, will not be able to participate in different camera settings and other, more advanced techniques. The class will focus on DSLR and mirrorless camera functions. Students should have their own DSLR (Digital Single Lens Reflex), SLR, or mirrorless camera with detachable lens- students with point and shoot and/or cell phone cameras are welcome but will most likely not receive as much satisfaction as students with DSLR-style cameras. Class is offered in person in Colville and online. (Hybrid)

Heart Rhythm Meditation (HRM) focuses on the importance of breath and heart and how to bring the two into alignment; it has proven scientific benefits for your physical, emotional, and energetic heart. The physical benefits include lowering of blood pressure, increased heart rate variability, reduction of fatigue, improved circulation, and sleep. Regular HRM meditation has been shown to increase your personal magnetism, light and sense of safety and balance, cementing a greater internal peace and harmony. The practice of HRM is a wonderful gift to yourself and your relationships in a world of incessant sensory input.
This course will teach you the technique of HRM with a special focus on the power of grounding and staying in your body so you can manifest your conscious intentions. In a world with constant external pressures and distractions, HRM can teach you focus and concentration while also guiding you in harnessing the power of your heart to live a meaningful and joyous life. I look forward to meeting you and facilitating your inner heart journey to live with more courage, presence, creativity, and love. During our meditation hour on zoom, time will be set aside to share questions or life challenges on a voluntary basis and how to navigate them with breath and heart.

A to Z Grant Writing will take you through the planning process for documenting the need for funding in a Theory of Change Grant Project Planning Worksheet. Beginning with writing about what will be implemented (your vision for change and impact) when the project is funded, the worksheet begins to come to life. Exploring why funding is needed is the beginning of articulating the statement of need. You will learn how to document your projection of how, when funded, your project will initiate change. Once you've created the project's goals, the worksheet asks for inputs or resources (mirroring a logic model's format). Your thought processes and imagination will be tested in the implementation activities & timeline section. You'll also have a chance to develop outputs and outcomes for the planned project. Finally, you'll learn how to develop a project budget. Where does all of this lead? Every lesson is one step closer to having 100% of the information you'll need to write a highly competitive grant proposal. Additional features include six teachable moments videos and six choose your own adventure branching scenarios to fuel your creative thinking processes.
