Brain-Based Learning Workshop

Discover how the brain learns best through engaging, research-informed strategies that support cognitive, emotional, and social development. This interactive workshop explores key principles of brain-based learning, including the impact of emotions, environment, and developmental stages of behavior and readiness. Participants will engage in hands-on activities to apply brain-friendly techniques, foster executive function skills, and promote healthy habits and growth mindset. Cosmetology Instructor Trainee Program

This program provides licensed cosmetologists, manicurists, estheticians, or barbers the 500 hours needed for the cosmetology instructor's examination issued by the Washington State Board of Cosmetology. Under the supervision of a licensed cosmetology instructor, trainee students receive training in instructional methods and clinical practice in assisting students in all phases of cosmetology. Program fee includes textbook, required kit, CIMA access, and testing and licensing fees. This class is 30% online, self-paced and 70% in-person with supervised teaching. Students may submit documented experience in lieu of some of the required 500 hours - for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA).

Introduction to Canva

Canva is an online design platform that allows users to create graphics, edit photos, create printable materials, and publish their work. Enroll in this course to explore Canva's powerful design tools! Anyone can do this; no graphic design background is needed. Through reading, tutorials, and interactive activities you will start small and build your Canva confidence. Modules are short and allow you to work at your own pace. You will become familiar with Canva's basic layout and interface, design principles, and learn how to apply these to design your own projects. A certificate of completion is earned upon finishing the course. Introduction To Homeschooling

Spokane Colleges supports parents who may choose home-based instruction for their children by offering a homeschool introductory course that fulfills one of the four ways to qualify in Washington: completing a qualifying course in home-based education at a postsecondary institution or a vocational-technical institute (RCW 28A.225.010 (4)(a-c). Our parent-qualifying course is designed to be an affordable, convenient, online, self-paced course taught by a homeschool parent who encourages parents just starting their journey. It will build your confidence and arm you with strategies to acquire resources for community connection, learning, assessment, and record-keeping. The course typically takes 3 to 4 hours to complete. A certificate is awarded upon completion.

CompTIA Project+ Certificate

CompTIA Project+ is ideal for IT professionals who manage smaller, less-complex projects as part of their job duties but still require foundational project management skills. Project+ is versatile because it covers essential project management concepts beyond the scope of just one methodology or framework.

Fee: $1,750.00

Starting on July 1st of 2025, grant funding is available to offset the cost of the CompTIA certificates. The grant will cover 50% of the $1750 CompTIA Certificates. To apply the grant, use promo code upon checkout: ComptiA25. The grant is valid through June 30th, 2026 while funds last.

Classes are open enrollment, so students can start anytime within the designated dates. CompTIA Certificate courses are online asynochronous, but an instructor is available to answer any questions. The class includes the CompTIA LMS which hosts the ebook, labs and practice exams as well as access to a Canvas course provided by Spokane Colleges. It also includes the exam voucher.
