This six-week online course is for the Certified Medical Assistant to obtain their Phlebotomist Certification. The intent of this course is to learn how to draw blood specimens for testing purposes. The course will cover fundamental skills, training to use a variety of blood drawing techniques, set-up of appropriate equipment and supplies for specified blood work, theoretical and clinical experience and will follow the ASMT guidelines. Students will have an estimated 24-36 hours of skills lab one day a week and approximately 40 hours of clinical externship, if necessary.
