2027 O&P Technician Continuing Education Summit

The 2027 O&P Technician CE Course is created and designed specifically for O&P technicians and includes several fabrication demonstrations.This program is approved for 15.5 CEU credits by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics & Pedorthics (ABC), 16.5 CEU credits by the Board of Certification (BOC), and 12 MCE credits by Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (OPC).

 

The Pedorthic Certificate Program is a one-quarter, comprehensive training pathway designed to build foundational and applied skills in pedorthic care. Students gain knowledge in clinical practice, biomechanics, fabrication, gait analysis, and patient management through a combination of theory and hands-on learning. Coursework includes exploration of the pedorthist¿s role within the healthcare team, ethical and business practices, and clinical documentation. Students also develop practical skills in device design and fabrication, patient assessment, fitting and adjustment techniques, and treatment planning. This program prepares learners to understand human movement, evaluate gait patterns, and support patient mobility through effective pedorthic interventions.

This course is online via Canvas with in person lab sessions scheduled towards the end of the quarter.

Course Description: The phlebotomy program prepares individuals to draw blood specimens for testing purposes. The program integrates our ‘foundations of healthcare’ content in safety, A&P, communications, etc; followed by practical training to use a variety of blood drawing techniques, prepare and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment and appropriately set-up for laboratory testing. Course Description:  This two-hour training provides essential knowledge and practical guidance for individuals who may be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials (OPIM) in the workplace. Participants will learn how to recognize, prevent, and respond to exposure risks in alignment with OSHA’s Bloodborne Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030).

Course Description: This 1-day course will help the caregiver discover how different types of dementia affect the elderly within the long-term care population. Students learn how to communicate effectively with dementia clients and their families, gain tools to recognize the signs/symptoms of dementia and delirium, how to respond effectively to challenging behaviors, and issues surrounding activities of daily living. DSHS approved certificate upon passing written exam with 80% or better.

Course Description: Obtain your HCA in 75 hours of on-ground training. Training will provide DSHS certifications in dementia care and mental health care. This training is the minimum requirement for employment with home care agencies, assisted living facilities, adult family home caregivers and owners, individual state contracted personal care workers, group homes, and any other direct care workers providing home or community-based services to the elderly or people with functional or developmental disabilities. *ETP Eligible

Course Description: This course expands upon the skills and knowledge of the Home Care Aide to offer 24 hours of advanced theory and skills training to sit for the NACES exam. The Bridge course consists of 24 hrs continued training with 8 hrs of lecture, 8 hrs of lab, and 8 hrs in clinical rotation under supervision. Course Description: Mental Health First Aid is training that teaches skills to help someone who is working with a person who may be experiencing a mental health crisis. Information provided will discuss symptoms, crisis response, and active listening skills to support many mental health disorders, including: Depression; Anxiety, Trauma; Psychosis; and Substance Abuse.
