Course Description: An introductory course required for all Washington State Adult Family Home Care providers and care givers. Instruction includes all elements necessary to meet state license requirements. Satisfactory completion of all units is mandated for all providers and care givers. Mandatory CASAS exam included and proctored by appointment.This class is 100% online and requires a computer with audio and video. Students must be present in the camera at all times. *ETP Eligible

Home Care Aide Certified to NAC Bridge Program

Course Description: This course expands upon the skills and knowledge of the Home Care Aide to offer 24 hours of advanced theory and skills training to sit for the NACES exam. The Bridge course consists of 24 hrs continued training with 8 hrs of lecture, 8 hrs of lab, and 8 hrs in clinical rotation under supervision. Activity Director

Activity directors are responsible for directing, implementing and evaluating all resident activities as well as completing comprehensive assessments and care plan goals. Directing the activity course includes planning of activities for both individuals and groups, implementation of the programs, and monitoring the response to the programs in order to determine if the activities meet the care plan goals for residents. This course will teach you about professionalism, documentation and ethics, working with residents with special needs, and adapting ideas to certain demographics within a facility. This course is designed to give you the training and insight in working with the activity programs in nursing homes.

CPR for the Health Care Community

Course Description: This 4-hour class will teach participants the skills necessary to perform American Heart Association BLS Provider level CPR. Upon successful completion of the entire course, including the written and skills tests, the students will receive an American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR card that will be valid for a two year time period. This card level is acceptable as the CPR requirement for Nursing and Allied Health programs as well as for most educational and workplace needs.

Dementia, Level 1: Capable Caregiving

Course Description: This 1-day course will help the caregiver discover how different types of dementia affect the elderly within the long-term care population. Students learn how to communicate effectively with dementia clients and their families, gain tools to recognize the signs/symptoms of dementia and delirium, how to respond effectively to challenging behaviors, and issues surrounding activities of daily living. DSHS approved certificate upon passing written exam with 80% or better.

EKG Technician Program

Course Description: This in-depth course will train you to apply, monitor, and measure electrocardiography tests in a flexible, online learning environment. By course completion, you will be prepared to take and pass the Certified EKG Technician Specialist (CETS) certification exam, offered by American Education Certification Association and the Certified EKG Technician (CET), provided by the National Healthcareer Association.

This course offers enrollment with a voucher for either the CETS certification exam or the CET certification exam. The voucher is prepaid access to sit for the certifying exam upon eligibility.

Disclaimer: To qualify for the externship applications process, students must successfully complete the online course content and have account balances up to date (at a minimum). Going through the externship application process does not guarantee an externship. Students can begin researching the steps of the application process 2 weeks prior to completing courses.

Home Care Aide Certification

Course Description: For persons who have successfully completed an accredited MA program or registered apprenticeship program recognized by the State of Washington, and have successfully passed a Certified Medical Assistant examination through AAMA, a Register Medical Assistant examination through AMT, a Clinical Medical Assistant Certification examination through NHA or a National Certified Medical Assistant examination through NCCT. Substance Use Disorder Professional Alternative Training Program

Course Description: This is an Alternative Training opportunity for licensed providers (such as licensed mental health counselors and other health care providers). The 15-credit online program meets the educational requirements for Alternative Training (WAC 246-811) for Substance Use Disorder Professional. The following fully licensed professionals are eligible for Alternative Training (WAC 246-811): Advanced registered nurse practitioner under chapter 18.79 RCW Licensed marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor, advanced social worker, or independent clinical social worker under chapter 18.225 RCW Psychologist under chapter 18.83 RCW Osteopath physician under chapter 18.57 RCW Osteopathic physician assistant under chapter 18.57A RCW Physician under chapter 18.71 RCW; or Physician assistant under chapter 18.71A RCW.

Violence Prevention and Awareness Certificate

This certificate program examines workplace violence, domestic (intimate partner) violence, elder abuse, child abuse, pediatric abusive head trauma, and sexual assault, gender violence, and rape. The outcome of this certificate program is for the learner to describe several key types of violence, risk factors specific to those types of violence, assessment and treatment options, and prevention measures to reduce the incidence of violence. Self-paced.

What to Expect: This class in 100% online, either self-paced or instructor led/moderated. Students have anywhere from 3 weeks - 12 months to complete this course, starting on the date of registration.
