Barre can help improve posture, balance, flexibility, strength, core and coordination. Students will learn about allover body alignment, feet placement for weight-bearing positions, shoulder positions for strength, head to hip placements for better control and balance. Would you like to improve your quality of life but feel that traditional exercise may be too challenging? If so, qigong may be right for you. Qigong is an ancient practice that combines slow, rhythmic movements with gentle breathing techniques to support overall health and well-being. Suitable for people of all ages, especially older adults, qigong can be practiced while sitting, standing, or even lying down. Similar to Tai Chi, Qigong movements are performed in a gentle, accessible manner. No special equipment is required, just comfortable clothing and supportive shoes.
Each class begins with instruction on proper breathing techniques to promote relaxation and overall well-being. This is followed by a gentle warm-up designed to help release tension and improve flexibility while learning ways to better manage everyday stress. The class then combines breathing with gentle qigong movements to enhance balance, coordination, and confidence, helping participants discover new possibilities for movement and personal growth. Qigong of the Great White Crane is a fun and graceful form that works on supporting the lungs and respiratory system. The lungs are the first line of defense in our bodies and the foundation of our immune system. Due to the nature of our stressful lifestyles, our breathing patterns are often affected negatively thus inhibiting the natural rhythm and function of the lungs. Disharmony of the lungs may lead to problems such as increased allergies, asthma, issues with bowel movements, and changes with the skin. Practicing this form will in the Fall help you prepare your body for the challenges of the Winter cold and flu season. Also, the emotion associated with the lungs is sadness and by practicing the movements of the White Crane form, you may feel happier!
Class Notes: Comfortable, loose-fitting clothes are encouraged. Paid parking is not required at this time. Class will not meet 10/19.

This Beginner Line Dance class will improve your balance and memory while having fun! Sandy's motto is: There’s no such thing as mistakes in line dancing, they’re called solos. Step sheets and YouTube links shared for all dances taught so you could practice at home (if you wanted to). I will always suggest options so folks can change up the dance steps to satisfy what their body wants to do. We line dance to all kinds of music, not just country. Recommend smooth soled shoes that you can slide in, do toe taps, and do the twist. Leather-soled cowboy boots and dance sneakers work, too. Fitness level 1 2 3

If you already know at least 10 line dances and/or feel comfortable learning at least one new dance at every class, then this Beginner Plus class is for you. Beginner Plus line dances are generally faster paced and/or have tags, tempo changes, restarts, etc. but no worries as Sandy will make sure that you are having fun while challenging your memory. And of course she will review dances taught the previous week before teaching a new one. Sandy's motto is: There’s no such thing as mistakes in line dancing, they’re called solos.
