Old School Sauerkraut   NEW!

Making your own sauerkraut has just become easy. In this class, Julie will demonstrate how to prepare sauerkraut using fresh ingredients without the use of a sauerkraut starter kit or added cultures. This is old school sauerkraut. Learn what to look for when purchasing your ingredients, what salt to use and how much salt. Julie will show how other ingredients can be added to customize your own batch of sauerkraut. You will also learn the different kinds of vessels to use in fermenting sauerkraut, where to ferment, for how long, at what temperature, how to build up enough brine without adding water, how to recognize and avoid mold, how to achieve the desired fresh crispness in your sauerkraut and more. Samples of sauerkraut will be available at the end of class.
