Designing Publications   NEW!

Do you need to create a newsletter, magazine, annual report or other multi-page document? What makes the difference between a good brochure and a great brochure?

Learn the basic tenets for producing an appealing brochure. This class uses a combination of design theory and hands on practice using Adobe software to apply key elements of design into creation of a variety of finished products.

This two-day course will include the basic elements, vocabulary and practical use for creating products for both print and web to include tips, tricks and standards of graphic design elements. Students will use Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Acrobat to complete a sample project. Please note this is not an introductory class to any of those programs.

This is the sixth class in the Graphic Design Certificate series.

Upon successful completion of this class, participants should be able to:
  • Recognize the principles of the printing process to complete the specifications needed to create and build a file for print.
  • Examine and discuss color process for CMYK vs. PMS and what implications paper product choice makes
  • Define how a newsletter, magazine, or similar document can help with your marketing and education efforts.
  • Understand the basic tools needed to create a multi-page document
  • Construct and complete a multi-page publication in class.

Course Prerequisites: Complete of the core courses in the Graphic Design Certificate is highly recommended. You will need to bring a minimum of 400 words of content and photos on a thumb drive so you can create a publication at the end of class.
