Project Risk Management 15 PDUs

Successful completion fulfills 15 Professional Development Units toward SPSCC certificate completion and can be submitted to PMI subject to their audit process.

This course builds on the basic information provided in the introductory Project Management Course, and focuses on Project Risk Management. Project Risk Management is one of the most vital of the nine content areas of the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide) because projects often tend to be time constrained, pose huge technical challenges, and suffer from a lack of adequate resources. As a result it is no wonder that project managers are increasingly focusing their attention on risk management.

This course will teach key concepts and practical skills necessary to identify and manage risk. Specifically, the course will cover topics such as: defining risk; critical success factors in risk management; using the Active Threat and Opportunity Management (ATOM) method for risk management; risk assessment; response planning; quantitative analysis; reporting; implementation; and how to appropriately scale risk management processes to your project.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to:

  • Look for and document risk.
  • Anticipate why projects fail.
  • Analyze and prioritize risks.
  • Proactively plan to manage risk using one of four recognized techniques.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor Risk Management Plans.

Audience: Employees whose work involves Projects. Successful completion of the Project Management Essentials course is strongly recommended prior to taking this course. This course applies to private, public, government,  municipal and federal entities.
