Project Development: Initiation & Planning

Most projects are set up for success or a rough ride in the first two phases of the project¿s lifecycle: Initiation and Planning. No one sets up a project for failure on purpose, yet project failure is often associated with skipping these two key project focus areas, where a clear definition of what ¿done¿ looks like for a project, along with a roadmap for getting there. This course will introduce you to how to set up a project for success. Project Initiation focuses on who needs to be involved in setting the course for a successful project, from identifying and involving the project sponsor, defining the business case, and developing a project vision that ensures stakeholder consensus and engagement. You will learn the importance of applying the principles of project management, how considering each project focus area can enhance your project¿s chance for success. Using focused class exercises, you will work through both the mechanics and value of developing realistic schedules, resource management plans, budgets and more.
