Microsoft Word is an essential tool for any individual in today’s digital age. Proficiency in Word is a vital skill used in both business and basic day-to-day activities. Word 2016 Level 1 provides the basic concepts and skills to start being productive with Microsoft Word 2016: how to create, format, and set up a document, and how to add graphics and tables.

Performance Objectives: Upon completion of this course you should be able to:
  • Identify components of Word
  • Create, save, preview a document
  • Format font appearance and highlight text
  • Format paragraph alignment and spacing
  • Adding tabs and indents
  • Using Quick Styles, sets and themes
  • Manage lists and customizing bullets
  • Set margins, page breaks and columns
  • Proof documents and use AutoCorrect
  • Learn to control print settings
  • Work with templates
  • Insert and edit graphic objects, screenshots and pictures from the web
  • Add tables to a document or convert tables to text
  • Control a document's page setup
Competencies covered in this course: Fundamentals of Word Intended Audience: Beginning Word Users Recommended Prerequisite: To be successful in this course, you should be familiar with using personal computers, the mouse and keyboard. You should be able to use Windows to launch and close programs; navigate to information stored on the computer; and manage files and folders. To ensure your success, we recommend you first take an introductory Windows course.

Zoom Requirements:

  • Access to a computer with speakers & microphone (or the ability to call in via phone).
  • A web camera (suggested but not required).
  • Access to high-speed internet.

Zoom link will be sent prior to the start of class. You must have Word 2016 installed on your computer to participate in the class.
