Avalanche Awareness for Skiers, Snowboarders and Snowshoers   NEW!

Too many skiers, snowboarders and snowshoers go into the backcountry unaware of the dangers they encounter and make unsafe decisions based on their lack of knowledge or training. This class prepares winter backcountry users how to recognize when they may be in danger and how to make decisions necessary to improve their safety. You will become knowledgeable on methods to greatly reduce your risk of being in an avalanche and to critically analyze your route of travel and be able to avoid unsafe conditions. You will gain understanding on how the snow pack responds to conditions, what specialized gear to take for your winter activities and how to use it. Whether you’re planning a snowshoeing day trip with the kids, a ski trip with a partner or venturing out on your own, this class will prepare you to go out into the winter environment in the mountains and enjoy it safely.
