Do you need to learn how to protect your network or operating systems from attack? How do you secure documents and more from prying eyes and fingers? In this world fraught with security threats, the need for skilled and knowledgeable information security professionals has never been greater. This 2-day class concentrates on network security covering wired and wireless as well as different ways to secure them. The class experience helps to identify and teaches skills necessary to support today’s varied IT environments.

In addition, you will learn to use Windows Access Controls to lock down objects in a Windows environment though these principals will be useful using any operating system. This class covers objectives in both the Security+ and GSEC exams. Recommended as the 1st course in the Information Security Certificate.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Describe and understand the basics of network communication
  • Define the difference between the OSI stack and the TCP/IP stack
  • Secure both wired and wireless networks
  • Implement Defense in Depth and Principle of Least Privilege
  • Describe modern information warfare and its effects
  • Use cryptography to secure network communication
  • Understand the role of firewalls, honeypots and honeynets
  • Utilize network intrusion detection to monitor and react to attacks
  • Utilize Windows Kerberos and NTLM authentication
  • Set access controls on Windows objects
  • Monitor and audit Windows access controls

Audience: Any computer technology professionals needing IT security skillset. Candidates needing help preparing for Security + or GSEC exams.
