Data Analysis, Integration and Business Intelligence  

Take the first steps to identify key concepts in business intelligence, including data analysis, integration and reporting. This a huge topic that arches into a variety of business programs and concepts to assist in business decisions and database and application structures. Understanding the overarching concepts can give you a head start when begin work on projects involving business intelligence.

Finding agile solutions in a technical world and delivering technology projects can be difficult, particularly understanding how different technological elements work together towards a solution. This is the recommended ninth and final class of the Technical Solutions Delivery Certificate that provides an overview of technological understanding to help in the communication of projects and working relationships.

Class format includes lecture, hands-on exercises, and real world examples using SQL Server tools.

Upon completion of this class, you should be able to:

  • Identify Business Intelligence in SQL Server involving integration, analysis and reporting
  • Work with SQL Server Data Tools and Management Studio
  • Understand Integration Services and Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes
  • Identify Analysis Services OLAP cubes and MDX SQL queries
  • Use Reporting Services to summarize, format and print data
  • Determine the right tool for the task at hand
  • Discuss front end tools (such as those in Excel) for Business Intelligence for end users

Audience: This course is ideal for anyone, but especially communications professionals, who are involved in data project conception. This class is aimed at non IT professionals to gain an overview understanding of the IT world.

This class is offered online using Zoom and Remote Desktop.

Zoom Requirements:
  • Access to a computer with speakers & microphone (or the ability to call in via phone).
  • A web camera (suggested but not required).
  • Access to high-speed internet.

  • Zoom link will be sent prior to the start of class. You must have the ability to connect via Remote Desktop on your computer to participate in the class. A second monitor is recommended.
