The basic Firefighter 1 program provides comprehensive training in all aspects of basic structural Firefighting skills. This program is intended for those volunteer Firefighters who wish to be trained to the NFPA Firefighter 1 and Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations level. Attendees will receive basic training in fire control, search and rescue, ladders, loss control, self-contained breathing apparatus, fire ground safety, tools, equipment and Hazardous materials Awareness and Operations. This 18-week course meets all requirements for Firefighter 1 along with Hazardous Materials Awareness and Operations levels based on NFPA standard 1001, “Firefighter Professional Qualifications”. This course will culminate in testing for IFSAC FF1 certification.

Books and Study Guides for the Fire Recruit Academy will be purchased individually by the departments for the students they choose to put through the training.
