SQL Level 2: Stored Procedures and More  

This course builds upon the basics of T-SQL (Transact-SQL) and covers Stored Procedures, Triggers, User Defined Functions and Indexing. We will do a deeper exploration into Data Types and their uses. The basics of performance tuning queries and error handling are covered as well.

Course taught using 2014, but is applicable and useful for previous versions.

Upon completion of this course, you should be able to:
  • Create and use User Defined Functions
  • Describe why Stored Procedures are used and why they might NOT be used
  • Create and use Stored Procedures
  • Describe why Triggers are used and why they might NOT be used
  • Create and use Triggers
  • Understand how indexes work in SQL Server
  • Describe the difference between clustered, nonclustered and covering indexes
  • Compare, contrast and use different data types in SQL Server
  • Execute basic performance tuning to get better query speed and efficiency
  • Implement basic error handling in your T-SQL code
