SPSCC's musical groups are a combination of noncredit community and degree seeking students studying music.  The classes often culminate in a performance near the end of the quarter.

    REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS CLOSED. This class is already in session.

    Basic principles of chamber ensemble singing and study of appropriate choral literature.  The fall quarter performance will be December 6, 2024.  The winter quarter performance will be March 14, 2025 with additional performances on January 13, 2025 and February 28, 2025.  The spring quarter performance will be June 7, 2025 with an additional performance on June 14, 2025 for the SPSCC graduation.

    Open to all students. Previous choral experience is recommended. Please contact Dr. John Guarente for audition information at jguarente@spscc.edu

    SPSCC music instruction classes are co-scheduled with for-credit programming and are offered for community members who have an interest in serious study. Participants will be expected to make regular attendance and fully participate in class. This class may include exams for students enrolled for-credit and are not required for non-credit Continuing Education students.

    SPSCC academic classes may utilize the online classroom environment CANVAS for supplemental classroom materials and assignments. Enrolled students will receive an email prior to the first date of class with their Canvas login and instructions.

    Please Note: The course price does not include campus resource fees. Students may need access to an off-campus computer with internet and a printer.

    REGISTRATION FOR THIS CLASS IS CLOSED. This class is already in session.

    Provides the instrumentalist an opportunity to study, rehearse and perform selected jazz music. Develops skills of musical improvisation.

    Student must have ability to read music, basic knowledge of music theory and basic ability to play a jazz instrument.

    Participants will be placed into different ensembles through an audition process during the first class.  The fall quarter concert will be on December 3rd, 2024.  The winter quarter concert will be on March 18, 2025.  The spring quarter concert will be on June 10, 2025.

    Join us for community choral singing!

    You will work on the basics of good choral singing as we prepare works from standard choral literature for a performance at the end of the quarter.  The fall quarter concert will be December 6, 2024.  The winter quarter concert will be March 14, 2025.  The spring quarter concert will be June 7, 2025 (rehearsal June 5). 

    Prerequisite: Open to all students. Previous choral experience is recommended. Please contact Dr. John Guarente for audition information at jguarente@spscc.edu

    Register early to guarantee getting a copy of the music on the first night. Regular attendance is expected in order to participate in the concert.

    The orchestra is open to students, faculty, staff, and community members. Enrollment requires teacher permission.
