Excel Spreadsheets: Fundamentals   

Start here to learn the power of Excel spreadsheets in business and organizational data management. This on-demand, online course covers the basic concepts and applications of spreadsheets in business, health sciences, and service industries. Students will learn to create spreadsheets in Excel that model common business or organizational needs using formulas, functions, formatting, what-if analysis, graphs and charts.

Students who complete this course with satisfactory scores on assessments will be eligible for the Spreadsheets: Fundamentals badge.

Software:  Windows version of Excel 365/Excel 2019/Excel 2021
Textbook:  New Perspectives Excel 2021 ebook and homework platform (MindTap) (ISBN is  9780357671993) $49.99 for 5-weeks of access. If you are planning to take all three courses, you can get a full 4-months for $124.99

Learning Outcomes:

  • Work with introductory formulas/functions
  • Demonstrate how to do basic formatting
  • Create business models with IF and VLOOKUP functions
  • Show proficiency with the basics of chart and graph creation
  • Apply the above spreadsheet skills to case studies in business, health sciences, and service industries

This course is on demand, online asynchronous (work at your own pace). Students should  plan on around 6 hours of material each week. Students will have access to the course for 5 weeks after their initial start date.
