TCU Global Futures Symposium

The global landscape is being reshaped by energy systems, geopolitical shifts, and evolving patterns of international engagement. Universities are increasingly called upon not only to respond to these developments, but to help interpret, anticipate, and influence them.
The TCU Global Futures Symposium is a new annual convening designed to examine major global developments and their implications for higher education. Each year, the symposium will focus on a timely and consequential issue—bringing together scholars, policymakers, and international education leaders for informed dialogue and cross-sector engagement.
The inaugural 2026 symposium, Powering the Future: Universities and the Global Energy Landscape, will feature keynote remarks from General David Petraeus and moderated sessions exploring global energy systems and transitions, geopolitical and economic developments across Central and South America, and the shifting political, economic, and security dynamics of the Middle East. Together, these sessions will deliver timely analysis, comparative regional perspectives, and actionable insights—equipping leaders to navigate an increasingly complex global environment.
