Rather than a lengthy presentation about cruise ships and cruise planning as in the past, this lecture will rely almost exclusively on participants bringing their own questions to class. Every effort will be made to answer all questions presented, and there will be a short presentation on travel tips to help make your first and all subsequent cruises outstanding vacations. If questions are few, don't worry, I have plenty useful information to fill our time together.

When the auction of items from the estate of Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis was announced for April 1996, I decided I would attend. So I called Sotheby's in New York City and told them. They laughed and laughed and laughed. It turns out several hundred thousand other people had the same thought, so my journey to attending the auction was not as straight forward as I had anticipated. Nevertheless, luck was with me. My mother and I attended…. even winning an item from her wardrobe. Come hear our adventure!

Italy is a fascinating country filled with history, art, scenery and culture. Oh, and the food and wine aren't bad, either! With all it has to offer, Italy is very welcoming to the U.S. traveler, so why not consider it for a future travel adventure. This lecture is designed for independent travelers not seeking a tour group travel experience. It provides tips on planning your trip and making the most of your time there from the perspective of a Texan with 22 independent trips to Italy from 2011 through 2024.

Walking the pilgrimage to Santiago de Compostela is something my husband and I had been toying with doing for years. Sets back in health and due to our age creeping up on us we had all but given up. I will explain how and why we threw caution to the wind and went for it, and how it turned out to be one of the highlights of our lives.

From the establishment of Big Bend National Park in 1944 to the designation of Castner Ridge National Monument in 2023, the course will explore the seventeen Texas treasures within the National Park System and include those administered by the Department of Defense. This will also include an overview of the National Historic Trails administered by NPS including the recent addition of the Butterfield Overland Trail. This is not a "where to hike and camp" lecture. Instead, it investigates the initiatives in creating the Lone Star State's natural, historical, and cultural sites within the history of the century-old national park movement and how these sites came to be. No sunscreen or bug spray needed.

Come with me to relive a summer driving trip through eastern and southern France. The route starts at Charles De Gaulle Airport and heads east to the highly Germanic Alsace Region. We turn south to visit the magnificent French/Italian Alps and then reenter France to visit lavender fields in full bloom. We spend several days in Provence where Van Gogh painted many of his masterpieces. No trip to France is complete without wine, so we head into the Burgundy region for its famous vintage. The final stop is the Loire Valley to visit beautiful Chateaux from the 16th century.
