The Knight School's summer chess camps are the perfect way to relax during the summer in a fun environment with very smart friends! Beginners, it is also a great way to get ready for your school's official chess team and chess party in the fall. Chess Camp has a fun and friendly spirit and is a great way to keep the brain sharp during the summer while having a real blast! Chess Camp is a super-fun, high-energy chess experience in which kids entering grades 1 - 8 celebrate a new chess tactic each day with silly videos, music-driven puzzlers for prizes, colorful silicone Tactixbands, funny movies, and chess clock tourneys in which the winner gets the loser's Mardi-Gras beads! Laughter, fast-clocks, and compelling teaching approaches make this camp the summer's highlight for the hundreds of kids nationwide who make up the awesome network of The Knight School's chess teams.
Daily Themes:
Monday: Students will be given a TKS chess shirt.
Tuesday: Students are asked to wear their TKS shirt
Wednesday: Wacky Wednesday, so anything wacky!
Thursday: Dress like a bug for bughouse!
Friday: Champion-ship day, so dress like a pirate!

CSI: TCU (Junior Frogs in the Lab): Grades 8 - 11
At CSI: TCU, we hope to excite and educate 8th - 11th graders for a future in a CSI-related field. Our camp will provide you with the basic knowledge needed to unlock your curiosity about the ever-expanding fields of crime scene investigation and forensics. CSI Camp covers topics like basic criminal investigation, forensic analysis techniques, crime scene processing, and collection and packaging of evidence. Our camp activities include lifting and examining fingerprints, casting tread impressions, identifying and examining blood spatter/stains, and much more.
Throughout the camp, you will have the opportunity to hear from instructors who currently work in the field of crime scene investigation, working professionals. Our instructors will share their daily operations and provide insight into the world of forensics. You will gain a better understanding of the field and how to apply your skills in a real-world setting.
Campers should bring a non-perishable lunch and beverage to camp!

Digital Storytelling: Grades 6 - 8
Join us for a fun week of digital storytelling! This session will focus on helping campers tell compelling stories through means of digital storytelling. They’ll explore the fundamentals of narrative, visual, and auditory composition while creating their own short projects. Through collaborative hands-on activities, students will develop skills in communication and responsible digital creating. By the end of the session, students will have a polished digital story that reflects their unique voice and perspective.

The week will be filled with exciting learning opportunities and fun activities that will enhance your child's civic knowledge and skills. Campers will be divided into small groups that will be led by dedicated camp counselors including TCU students and local area teachers. Together in these small groups, campers will identify important issues affecting their local communities. Confirmed participants must complete and submit required forms that will be emailed to families in early July.
Camp meets 9am – 3pm, Monday – Thursday and 9am – 4pm on Friday—parents are invited to the Friday afternoon camper presentations. Lunch will be provided daily.
