The journey into abstraction is an alluring adventure. Combining traditional watercolor, natural mineral pigments and gesso opens up an exciting new approach to both traditional and abstract subject matter. Students of all levels will learn a unique layering method for building watercolors with rich colors and strong textures. Emphasis on powerful value and composition, combined with loose and free approach, make for a fun and exciting workshop.
Each day Carol will start and finish one or two demonstration during the workshop. You will be working small. She will teach at least 4 different mini, feel-good lessons that introduce several techniques to combine watercolor with other watermedia. She will talk about abstract compositions and explain how these fundamental structures relate to realism. A final, larger demonstration will show how contrast, combined with the power of line can bring order out of contrived chaos, resulting in a powerful painting.
Carol is a signature member of AWS, NWS, ISEA/NF, ISAP, SWS, and more. She has won numerous major awards in national competitions and has been published in several art magazines and books, including Watercolor Artist, the Artist Magazine, American Artist, Watercolor, Splash 13, and The Artist Touch 4 and 5. Her popular workshops and classes keep students inspired and enthusiastic.
