Certified Financial Planner - Insurance  

Explore the principles of risk management and insurance including auto, home, and fire.

Competencies:
  • Identify the principles of Risk and Insurance
  • Analyze insurance policies and company selection
  • Recognize property, casualty and liability insurance
  • Identify the component of health insurance options
  • Define disability income insurance/long-term care insurance
  • Outline life insurance options for individuals
  • Define series of income taxation of life insurance
  • Identify business use of insurance including annuities
  • Define group life and disability insurance
  • Distinguish other employee benefits

The second module in the six module series, this course is designed to acquaint students with the principles of risk management and various types of insurance including casualty, fire, health, life, auto, home, disability. The principles taught prepare students to identify a client’s risk exposure and select appropriate risk management techniques.

Prerequisite:
  • Successful completion of Certified Financial Planner General Principles and/or comparable experience

There are 38 class hours with instructors in this course. There is an expectation of approximately five (5) additional hours per week of outside reading/homework.
