Digital Photography 1   

Get the photos you want by learning features and controls of your digital camera.

Competencies:

  • Operate and handle a digital camera
  • Demonstrate the use of variables to exposure, such as ISO, shutter speed and aperture
  • Control focus point and motor drive settings
  • Pratice storytelling through composition
  • Change exposure compensation controls on camera
  • Anticipate and identify problems with color casts, complex lighting and other color pitfalls

Students must have a digital camera and instruction manual with them for class.

This course is divided into two units:  digital camera operation and photographic fundamentals.  Weekly assignments integrated with class discussions give a solid foundation in digital photography.  Topics include:  exposure modes, aperture, shutter speed, flash, histograms and exposure compensation, white balance and other in-camera overrides.  This course is part of Level 1 of the Digital Photography Certificate.
