This workshop introduces participants to the core components of a computer system and how they work together. Students will learn the purpose of the CPU, RAM, storage drives, power supply, and motherboard while gaining confidence using and maintaining their own systems. The class will also cover basic upgrades, performance improvements, and troubleshooting techniques that everyday users can apply at home or work.

Session 2. May 26th & 28th – Operating System Fundamentals
Participants will explore the basics of modern operating systems, including Windows and an introduction to Linux. The workshop will cover file management, settings, software installation, updates, user accounts, and system organization. Students will also learn how operating systems communicate with hardware and how proper maintenance can improve performance, security, and long-term system reliability.

Session 3. June 2nd & 4th – Building a Secure Home Network
This class teaches students how to create and maintain a reliable and secure home network. Topics include routers, switches, Wi-Fi standards, passwords, encryption, and network troubleshooting. Participants will learn how devices communicate across a network and how to protect personal information from outside threats while improving internet performance and connectivity throughout the home.

Session 4. June 9th & 11th – Cybersecurity for Everyday People
Students will learn practical cybersecurity skills designed for everyday life. Session 6. June 23rd & 25th – Introduction to Linux

Session 7. June 30th & July 2nd – Build Your Own PC
